What is Youth Work in New Avenues?
In addition to the weekend Iftin project and the two evenings
a week for the girls group we provide two evening sessions per
week for teenage boys. During the school holidays we arrange
events and activities including residential holidays.
We carry out some training schemes and for young people as
well as the opportunity to join the Youth Forum.
Our Senior Youth and Community Worker — Derek Cox, carries
out outreach work and appropriate adult work for families and
on behalf of young offenders.
One evening a week Lucy Rahman carries out a music and cultural
project for children aged between 9 and 14.
Who Can Take Part?
Any boys aged between 8 and 15 from the local area can take
part in the regular evening sessions. Older boys can gain access
to the youth and community workers in the form of outreach and
appropriate adult work. They can also take part in the training
project and the youth forum.
