Who can use the service?
All women, of all ages can use this service. We
have several different sessions aimed at the needs of each group.
Sessions Available
Girls Group Evening Session
this group meets twice a week on: the group take part in discussions
about issues relating to their lives and we encourage expert guest
speakers to come and take about specific issues such as drug abuse and
domestic violence. The young women have an opportunity to socialize, do
home work and talk to our experienced worker about any issues they may
be facing.
Young/single Mothers Support Group. The
group meets one morning per week to support young, single and new
mothers. This is an opportunity to make friends, socialize, discuss
issues regarding children and babies and to get one to one support from
an experienced worker as well as some basic counseling.
Older Women’s Group this
group meets one afternoon a week and is an excellent opportunity to
meet people, spend some time outside the home and to take part in craft
activities such as aromatherapy, clothes making and swimming.
Young Mother’s Group The
young mothers group meets one morning a week to discuss health issues
and as a social group. There will be a program of events including
health and fitness sessions such as; swimming, keep fit, self defense
and talks by experts on nutrition, breast feeding etc.
Holidays ProgramsThere are
several outings and holidays arranged during each school break and
during the summer.
Outreach. Our senior
Bangladeshi women and girls’ worker; Syeda Rowgi Begum
carries out regular outreach work in people’s homes.
Appointments can be arranged by phone.
Other Services
If you need advice on any issues, our Bangladeshi
Community Support worker; Shuria Khanum can be contacted. Shuria also
carries out home visits but these must be arranged by appointment.
