What is The Boundary Project?
The Boundary Project aims to work with children who have behavioral
problems, learning difficulties and mild disability to improve
confidence and reduce bullying. We target those children who
would benefit from support during the difficult transition between
primary and secondary school and who need extra help in developing
socially and emotionally.
Who can use the project?
- Children aged between 8 and 12 years.
- Children who are underachieving in school.
- Children who are at risk of eating disorders or bullying.
- Children with food allergies.
- Children who suffer from speech impediments.
- Children who suffer from low self-esteem and who lack the
confidence to develop relations with peers and the wider community.
- Children who have partial sight or use a hearing aid.
When does it take place?
The project is based at Christ Church Gardens Youth and Community
Center in Commercial Street every Sunday between 10am and 4pm.
Children are collected from and returned to their homes. In
some cases a brother or sister may also attend to support a
particularly vulnerable child. We carry out family visits during
the week to discuss children's progress with parents or to encourage
children to attend. During the summer holidays there will be
a program of activities and events including a residential holiday.
Who are the workers?
Mina Begum - youth and community worker; support workers: Sabina
Waris, Azayi Ferdous and Rupia Begum
